This dive site, Aussie’s Reef, is located within the Gneering Shoals off Australia's Sunshine Coast. It features a unique topography where a reef top, at approximately 13 meters, protrudes from the 18-meter seafloor, creating interesting overhanging structures. Divers can navigate along these formations, exploring the sandy bottom that lies between the coral beds, offering a unique perspective of the aquatic environment.
The reef boasts an abundance of marine life, including diverse coral formations and a variety of fish species. Common reef fish like parrotfish, surgeonfish, and anemonefish are likely to be found, along with numerous smaller invertebrates that inhabit the reef structure and sandy areas.
Aussie’s Reef is a fantastic spot for divers of all levels, offering a chance to 'hover at eye level' with the reef tops, providing an immersive viewing experience. Its relatively shallow depths make it suitable for both scuba divers and freedivers. The site is generally accessible by boat, and while no specific best time is mentioned, conditions are typically good during warmer months, offering excellent opportunities for both wide-angle and macro photography.
