About this dive site
This dive site offers exploration of the ex-HMAS Tobruk, a significant shipwreck located offshore. The wreck was officially opened for underwater investigation in late February 2019 and rests on its starboard side. Dive depths range from 10 to 28 meters (33 to 92 feet). It’s situated approximately 31 kilometers (17 nautical miles) offshore, between Queensland's Bundaberg and Hervey Bay, specifically around 41 kilometers (22 nautical miles) from Bundaberg and 46 kilometers (25 nautical miles) from Hervey Bay. The area is sheltered by Fraser Island, contributing to excellent visibility throughout the year. The wreck has already begun to be colonized by marine life, including corals, mollusks, colorful reef fish, anemones, octopus, sparkling schools of small silver fish, groupers, wobbegong sharks, and even passing sea turtles and rays. Due to its location within the Great Sandy Marine Park, diving access requires an approved permit. This makes it a fascinating dive site for experienced divers.
