About this dive site

This dive site, known as 3 Tannen, is an excellent location for dive training and for newer divers, situated in Austria. It features a pebbly bottom that descends steeply, offering a varied underwater landscape. Divers can explore a unique collection of debris, including car tires, a car door, and a discarded oven, which create interesting artificial habitats. Navigation is straightforward, with prominent rocks at 5 meters to the left of the entry point, guiding divers along the slope.

The site is home to a diverse array of freshwater fish species. Divers can expect to encounter eels and eel rod, along with larger fish such as carp, pike, vendace, arctic char, lake trout, pearlfish, and whitefish. The mix of natural rock formations and man-made debris provides shelter and foraging opportunities for these species, making for an engaging wildlife observation experience.

The best time to visit 3 Tannen for diving is typically during the warmer months when surface conditions are more pleasant. Its suitability for training makes it a viable option year-round for those with appropriate cold-water gear. Both snorkelers and freedivers will find the site appealing due to its accessibility and the presence of marine life in shallower areas, with the maximum depth of 24 meters also offering good opportunities for freediving practice.
