About this dive site
This dive site features the Hilma Hooker, a 1984 shipwreck located just off a sandy reef in the South. The wreck lies on its side at a depth of approximately 72 meters and offers extensive exploration opportunities – including cargo holds, airshafts, and the wheelhouse. Three moorings are present: one attached to the bow, another to the stern, and a shallower mooring positioned on the reef itself. The Hilma Hooker is known for its vibrant marine life; tarpons and barracudas frequently inhabit the area, visible both during daylight hours and at night. You might also encounter spiny lobsters beneath the masts, or even spot a frogfish amongst the reef’s surprises. Penetration of the wreck requires guidance from a local expert. Due to the depth and potential for strong currents, this is considered an advanced dive site. Enriched air diving is highly recommended to maximize your time underwater. The shallow reef surrounding the wreck provides an excellent safety stop.
