This dive site, La Machaca (27), features a prominent wreck located a short 30-meter swim from the pier of Captain Don’s Habitat’s covered reef. Divers require permission from the resort to access this site. The primary wreck, La Machaca, lies at a depth of 14 meters. By following a guide rope, divers can easily navigate to a second, deeper wreck known as the tugboat Hesper, offering a captivating dual wreck experience.
The waters around La Machaca teem with typical Caribbean marine life. Divers can expect to encounter nurse sharks and reef sharks, and there's a good possibility of spotting majestic eagle rays and various stingrays. The vibrant reef and wrecks are also home to an abundance of colorful fish species, including snapper, angelfish, grunts, and parrotfish, making for a lively underwater spectacle.
