About this dive site

This dive site is located in Saco do Capim, a sheltered area near Arvoredo Island in Brazil, resembling a natural pool with a sandy and stony bottom. The main attraction is the remains of the Granada wreck, which scattered across the seabed after a storm. Navigation is straightforward due to the shallow depth and calm conditions, making it easily accessible even for novice divers. The wreck provides interesting structures to explore, while the relatively small area allows for a thorough exploration during one dive.

The marine life here is quite diverse, including turtles, seahorses, lobsters, octopuses, salems, surgeonfish, groupers, skates, false fly fish, vault fish, nudibranchs, trumpetfish, and dogfish. The relatively shallow and calm nature of the site makes observation of these animals easy. The diverse bottom habitat creates a rich ecosystem to explore.

The best time to visit Saco do Capim is during the warmer months (October to March), when visibility is typically better and marine life is more active. For freediving, the shallow depth and calm conditions are ideal. Divers should check weather and current conditions before heading out, as even mild currents can affect visibility. The shallow depth makes this site appropriate for all skill levels, but proper buoyancy control is recommended, especially near the wreck debris.
