This dive site, known as Chub Hole, offers a captivating underwater landscape off the west coast of Grand Cayman. Southeast of the pin, divers can explore a fascinating miniwall adorned with a complex maze of tunnels, canyons, and natural archways, providing an engaging environment for exploration. Moving northward, the reef transforms into an open expanse featuring large overhangs and impressive towering coral fingers, creating a dramatic and beautiful topography suitable for various skill levels.
The site is home to a rich array of marine life. Divers can expect to encounter Bermuda Chubb and Tarpon navigating the open reef, while Slipper Lobsters are often found tucked away in the numerous canyons and crevices. Shimmering clouds of juvenile fish congregate above vibrant coral heads, and the majestic giant Loggerhead turtles are frequently observed gracefully cruising along the reef, adding to the site's allure.
Chub Hole is an excellent year-round dive destination, with consistently warm waters and generally superb visibility making for pleasant diving at any time. Its varied depths and features make it ideal for both scuba divers and freedivers, offering shallower areas perfect for extended breath-hold exploration of the tunnels and coral formations. Divers should bring a dive light to fully appreciate the details within the overhangs and swim-throughs.
