This dive site, Double Wall, marks the initial wall dive experience on the North West End of Cayman Brac. Divers navigate along a dramatic drop-off, exploring a vibrant reef crest and wall adorned with magnificent barrel sponges and a spectrum of colorful corals. The site offers a classic Caribbean wall diving experience, characterized by its stunning vertical topography and abundant marine life.
The waters at Double Wall teem with diverse marine inhabitants. Expect to encounter impressive schools of Horse Eye Jacks and various hamlets, gracefully swimming alongside anemones. Turtles are a common sight, elegantly gliding through the water, and lucky divers may also spot Caribbean Reef Sharks patrolling the deeper blue, adding an exciting element to the dive.
The best time to visit Double Wall, like much of the Cayman Islands, is typically from late November to May, offering calmer seas and excellent visibility, though diving is good year-round. This site is a highlight for wide-angle photographers due to its expansive wall and schooling fish. Freedivers will appreciate the manageable maximum depth of 22 meters and the opportunity to interact with large marine life.
