About this dive site

This dive site, Pallas Reef, is celebrated as one of the premier diving locations on Grand Cayman's south side. It is characterized by stunning, expansive canyon-like finger corals that gently slope into sandy patches, interspersed with intriguing swim-throughs, small archways, and various overhangs. Divers can explore these diverse coral formations, navigating through the natural architecture of the reef, with a maximum depth of 18 meters and an average of 9 meters.
This vibrant reef is teeming with marine life. The shallow top reef, in particular, is a highlight, home to delicate soft corals and an array of juvenile reef fish. Keep an eye out for diminutive residents such as juvenile yellowtail damselfish, slender filefish, and the elusive sea pea (juvenile trunkfish). Moray eels are also frequently spotted amongst the coral structures, adding to the biodiversity.
The Pallas Reef is an excellent destination for divers of all experience levels due to its varied topography and depths. The shallow sections are perfect for beginners and snorkelers, while the swim-throughs offer engaging exploration for more experienced divers. The best time to visit the Cayman Islands for diving is typically during the dry season, from November to April, when the weather is calm and visibility is consistently excellent, allowing for optimal enjoyment of this spectacular underwater landscape.
