About this dive site

This dive site, El Planchón, is home to a 70-year-old wreck, 30 meters long, resting at a maximum depth of 12 meters. Its structure protrudes 2 meters from the seabed, creating a prominent feature for divers. The wreck has become a vibrant artificial reef, heavily colonized by countless organisms, and its interior serves as a refuge for various fish and sharks.

The diverse marine life found at El Planchón includes impressive barracudas, schools of jacks, grunts, and groupers. It also offers a chance to spot sharks and is a known habitat for elusive sea horses, making it a rich environment for observation.

Due to its shallow depth and abundant marine life, El Planchón is an excellent site for beginner divers and underwater photographers. It is also highly suitable for both snorkeling and freediving, offering a rewarding experience for all water enthusiasts. The site is best visited during periods of calm seas for optimal enjoyment.
