This dive site, El Róbalo, features a sunken ship located in a secluded area, creating an artificial reef teeming with life. While its specific history isn't detailed, the wreck itself provides a fascinating structure for exploration. Divers can navigate around and potentially through parts of the wreck, which is further enhanced by surrounding small coral formations.
The site is renowned for its abundant marine fauna. Divers frequently encounter impressive schools of fish, including French Grunts, Cuberetas, and Cajices. Larger residents such as groupers, snappers, and large parrot fish are commonly sighted, alongside frequent visits from stingrays. The small coral formations contribute to the overall biodiversity.
The best time to visit El Róbalo, and Cuba in general, is during the dry season from November to April, offering calmer seas and optimal visibility. This site is suitable for intermediate divers comfortable with wreck environments and offers excellent wide-angle photography opportunities. Freedivers with experience can also enjoy the shallower parts and the top of the wreck.
