About this dive site
This dive site is located near the MV Superior Producer, offering both boat and shore access. Shore diving can be reached from the Water Plant in Otrabanda. Double Reef presents a varied underwater experience, starting with a smaller, shallower reef that gradually transitions into a sandy area before culminating in a larger reef plateau. The second reef section typically holds the most interest for divers. Expect to encounter a rich tapestry of marine life including hard and soft corals – notably large brain coral – alongside green and spotted morays, cowfish, angelfish, tangs, urchins, puffers, anemones, and an abundance of parrotfish. This site is well-suited for those seeking a close-up view of the reef ecosystem. As with many Curacao dive locations, careful observation and attention to detail are rewarded; this island isn’t known for large pelagics but excels in showcasing smaller reef inhabitants such as gobies, blennies, cleaner shrimp, tiny crabs, juvenile boxfish, hidden eels, and even lurking lionfish. Due to the nature of the site it is best suited for intermediate divers who can maintain good buoyancy. The first reef bottom out at approximately 45 feet, while the outer reef begins around 60 feet and descends gradually.
