About this dive site

This dive site is the wreck of the St. George, a transatlantic cargo freighter built in 1962 in Scotland. It transported wheat and barley between Norway and the Americas before being abandoned in Santo Domingo harbor after 20 years of service. The ship was renamed after sustaining damage from Hurricane George and subsequently purchased by Club Dominicus, where it was sunk on June 12, 1999. This impressive deep wreck offers a challenging and rewarding dive for experienced divers. It’s covered in encrusting coral and sponge, providing an abundance of marine life including queen angelfish and barracuda. The site is well-suited for developing diver skills and provides a fantastic recreational diving experience. The depth of the wreck can reach significant levels, making it suitable for advanced divers.
