About this dive site
Mosquera is a captivating dive site located off the coast of Galapagos. It’s divided into two distinct areas: North and South Mosquera, each offering unique underwater experiences. Both locations are known for generally calm conditions, making them suitable for divers of various experience levels. The northern section features a sandy bottom at depths ranging from 10 meters, abundant garden eels, and the chance to observe pelagic species. A connection with Seymour Channel allows access to reef fish populations and the possibility of encountering tintoreras (hammerhead sharks). South Mosquera presents a larger coral reef starting at just 5 meters deep, with an inclined ravine reaching 18 meters. This area also includes a submarine canyon, offering encounters with pelagic life and invertebrates like black corals and mollusks. A diverse array of marine life inhabits these areas, including hammerhead sharks, Galapagos sharks, black-tipped and white-tipped reef sharks, sea lions, turtles, barracudas, various fish species, stingrays, eagle rays, mobulas, Galápagos eels, and a wide variety of invertebrates.
