About this dive site
This dive site, Abu Talha, is located a short drive north of its entry point and offers a shallow, gently sloping coral garden that's ideal for divers of all skill levels. The dive begins over a reef top, easily accessible only at high tide with minimal wind. The underwater landscape transitions from a vibrant coral garden with striking pinnacles to a sandy slope adorned with table corals as you progress north. The shallow areas are particularly stunning, featuring massive hard coral blocks teeming with life.
Marine life is abundant at Abu Talha. Divers can expect to encounter a variety of fish species, including schools of red tooth triggerfish congregating around the table corals. Larger animals like turtles, Napoleon wrasse, and eagle rays are also known to pass through the area, making it a delightful experience for observing both macro and larger marine life. Smaller reef fish are also prolific here making this a good area for spotting small invertebrates and colorful corals.
The best time to visit Abu Talha is during the summer months (May-October) when the water is calm and visibility is at its peak. Due to its shallow nature, this site is suitable for both snorkeling and freediving as long as proper safety precautions are observed. The site's accessibility is dependent on high tide and calm weather conditions, always check weather reports before committing to this dive.
