This dive site, El Gehaza, offers an easy and accessible shore dive experience, reached conveniently by a 10-minute car ride to its beach entry. Divers will navigate a gentle sandy slope down to approximately 10 meters, which then leads to a shallow drop-off at 18 meters. The topography consists primarily of sand interspersed with numerous small and larger blocks, creating pockets of life for various creatures. A notable feature is a relatively large, prominent block situated at 14 meters, serving as a focal point for marine activity.
The blocks at El Gehaza are teeming with an impressive array of small marine life, making it a paradise for macro enthusiasts. Divers can expect to encounter lionfish, schools of glassfish, various species of shrimps, and camouflaged scorpionfish. Beyond these, the site is known for more unique finds such as seahorses, the intriguing Red Sea Walkman, slender tailless sea needles, diverse snails, vibrant fireworms, and flatfish resting on the sandy bottom.
El Gehaza is suitable for diving year-round, with the Red Sea generally offering excellent conditions. The best time to visit would be during the cooler months (October-April) for more comfortable surface temperatures, though summer diving is also popular. This site is particularly recommended for macro photographers and those who enjoy slow, detailed dives exploring small crevices and the sand for hidden gems. It's also well-suited for freedivers and snorkelers due to its easy access and varied shallow areas.
