This dive site, El Quadim, is the house reef of the Mövenpick Hotel El Quseir, boasting a remarkable 5000-year history as Egypt's oldest trading port. Ancient amphorae and anchors are still found, offering a glimpse into its past. It's an exceptionally easy dive, featuring a large bay with depths of 4 meters, offering distinct north and south sides before descending into a deeper area.
Divers can encounter an impressive array of marine life, ranging from large pelagics like whale sharks, dolphins, whitetip reef shark babies, eagle rays, and turtles, to fascinating macro creatures. The smaller inhabitants include seahorses, frogfish, winged horse fish, ghost pipefish, carpet crocodile fish, and stone fish, indicating rich biodiversity.
El Quadim is suitable for diving year-round, with increased pelagic sightings typically occurring from May to October. Its calm, shallow conditions make it an ideal spot for beginner divers and a perfect location for extended bottom times. Freedivers and snorkelers will also appreciate the accessible bay and abundant marine life.
