This dive site, Panorama Reef North, is considered one of the top dive sites in the Safaga area of Egypt. It features a prominent reef formation with a plateau, offering a diverse underwater topography. Divers typically navigate along this plateau, exploring its northern sections. While the overall Panorama Reef system can reach depths beyond 40 meters, the specific North dive is noted for a maximum depth of 25 meters with an average depth of approximately 12 meters.
The rich marine environment at Panorama Reef North attracts a variety of large pelagic species such as unicorn fish, tuna, and groupers, often seen in the deep blue. The plateau itself is adorned with beautiful gorgonians and a vibrant combination of soft and hard corals, creating a colorful and lively ecosystem for smaller reef inhabitants.
The site is generally accessible year-round, with the Red Sea offering consistent good conditions. Divers should be prepared for potential moderate currents, especially in exposed areas, which can enhance the drift diving experience. Both scuba divers and freedivers will find the site rewarding, with its shallow coral gardens suitable for snorkeling and the deeper sections ideal for exploration and photography of the abundant marine life.
