About this dive site

This dive site, Shaab Said, is located about 13km south of Dahab, Egypt. It's a popular boat dive, typically starting with a drift dive heading north. The shallow area, reaching a maximum of 10 meters, is characterized by a beautiful labyrinth of hard corals and small, easily navigable caves. Deeper sections feature a gently sloping coral reef that extends down to a maximum depth of 20 meters.

Marine life is abundant here. Two resident turtles are frequently sighted, making for excellent encounters. Divers can also expect to see octopuses, squids, garfish, barracudas, along with many butterflyfish and sailfin doctorfish above the shallow corals. The reef structure itself supports a vast array of smaller reef creatures, ideal for macro photography.

The best time to visit Shaab Said is during the warmer months (April to October), when the visibility is typically at its best. For freediving, the shallow sections and clear water provide excellent conditions, however always consider the drift and make sure to have a buddy system. For scuba divers, remember to account for the drift and plan your dive accordingly to avoid overshooting your entry or exit point. The site is generally suitable for intermediate divers, though beginners may enjoy the shallower sections with an experienced guide.
