About this dive site

This dive site, Shabha, is a beautiful reef block located about an hour south of El Gouna, Egypt. The reef starts just below the surface and gently slopes down to a sandy bottom at 14 meters, making it easily navigable for divers of all skill levels, particularly beginners. A circular route around the reef takes approximately one hour, providing ample time to explore its diverse ecosystem. The eastern side features intriguing pinnacles that add to the underwater landscape.

Shabha reef teems with a vibrant array of marine life. Expect to see numerous antias, glassfish, and other common reef fish. However, the reef is also known for its population of venomous creatures, including stonefish, scorpionfish, and lionfish, requiring careful observation and responsible diving practices. Keep a keen eye out for these fascinating but dangerous animals.

The best time to visit Shabha is likely during the warmer months (spring and summer), when the water temperature is most pleasant and visibility is usually high. Good buoyancy control is recommended for this site to avoid disturbing the delicate reef. Both scuba divers and freedivers will appreciate the shallow, clear waters. Remember to maintain a safe distance from the reef and all marine life to preserve the integrity of this wonderful underwater habitat. Remember to bring your camera to capture the stunning scenery and diverse inhabitants.
