About this dive site
This dive site is located within the Ras Mohammed National Park and consists of Shark Reef and Yolanda Reef, renowned as one of the world's top ten diving destinations. These reefs rise dramatically from considerable depths, creating a stunning and dynamic underwater topography. The dive typically involves a drift dive starting towards Shark Reef and progressing to Yolanda Reef. Due to strong currents, it is crucial to enter quickly to avoid drifting past the most spectacular wall formations. The seabed descends steeply to an impressive depth of 800 meters or more. The area teems with marine life; snappers, batfish, and barracuda are common sights, particularly during peak periods in July and August when they congregate in large numbers, creating a ‘fish soup’ environment. Currents guide divers along the ‘saddle,’ a connecting reef between the two prominent pinnacles. Divers may encounter large pelagic fish while exploring the blue waters surrounding Yolanda Reef. The dive concludes at the remains of the ‘Yolanda’ wreck, offering an exhilarating experience with potentially strong and shifting currents that can create a rollercoaster-like sensation throughout the dive.
