La Caye des Boucaniers

This dive site, La Caye des Boucaniers, is located off Pointe Marin beach in Sainte-Anne, Guadeloupe. It's characterized by a high coral bottom near drop-offs, making it suitable for divers of all levels. Beginners can explore the shallower plateau, while more experienced divers can venture into deeper areas. The site is known for its accessibility near the red buoy, although surface conditions can be turbulent. The marine life at La Caye des Boucaniers is diverse. Divers can expect to see a variety of colorful reef fish, including various species of snapper, angelfish, and parrotfish. The coral formations themselves are home to numerous small invertebrates, crustaceans, and other macro life. There's a chance to spot larger animals, including turtles and potentially smaller sharks. The best time to visit is during the dry season (roughly December to May) when visibility is generally better and the sea is calmer. However, even during the wet season, dives can still be enjoyable. For freedivers, the shallower areas offer excellent opportunities for exploring the reef and observing smaller marine life.
