About this dive site

This dive site, Le Jardin de Corail, is located in the Guadeloupe National Park and its Cousteau Reserve, making it a protected and highly biodiverse area. The dive begins near the boat, descending into a vibrant coral garden teeming with life. At approximately 12 meters, divers encounter a statue of Commander Cousteau, a fitting tribute to the area's legacy of exploration. Navigating the site is relatively straightforward, with the coral garden offering ample visual interest and points of reference.

Marine life is abundant. Expect to see many jacks, often attracted by even minor currents. Look closely beneath the corals for sleeper sharks, moray eels, and lobsters, all common inhabitants of this reef ecosystem. A variety of colorful fish and diverse coral species contribute to the overall richness of the underwater landscape.

The best time to visit Le Jardin de Corail is generally during the drier months (December to May) when visibility is usually at its best. This dive site is suitable for both scuba divers and freedivers, however, freedivers need to be aware of potential currents. Divers should maintain buoyancy control to avoid damaging the delicate coral, and remember that Guadeloupe's marine environment is protected; respect the rules and regulations of the reserve to ensure its preservation for future generations.
