This dive site, known as "Le Souffleur," is celebrated as one of the most beautiful in the Port-Louis area. Divers can explore a series of natural formations, beginning with a small underwater arch, which then leads into a charming passage beneath the reef. The highlight is the 'big arch,' a truly magical spot renowned for its amazing interplay of light, creating a breathtaking underwater spectacle. Navigation through these natural structures is straightforward, making it an accessible yet engaging dive.
The site boasts incredibly colorful fauna and flora, creating a vibrant ecosystem. Divers will encounter a rich variety of sponges in all shapes, healthy corals, and beautiful gorgonians. The macro life is particularly abundant, with sightings of slipper lobsters, regular lobsters, fascinating spider crabs, and numerous cleaner shrimps. While large pelagics are not common, stingrays are a delightful sight for many.
Le Souffleur is suitable for diving year-round, with the drier and calmer months typically from December to May offering the most comfortable conditions. The shallow depths and stunning scenery, especially around the arches, make it an excellent choice not only for scuba divers but also for snorkelers and freedivers looking to explore its beauty. Remember to practice good buoyancy control to protect the delicate corals and sponges.
