About this dive site

This dive site, Les Sardinaux, is located off the coast of St. Maxime, France, opposite Pointe des Sardinaux. It's a versatile site catering to divers of all skill levels. A large, shallow plateau begins at just 3 meters, making it ideal for beginners to practice their skills and get comfortable underwater. More experienced divers can explore the two drop-offs that descend to approximately 40 meters, although the maximum depth usually explored is 18 meters. The site is characterized by classic Mediterranean underwater topography.

The marine life at Les Sardinaux is typical of the Mediterranean Sea. Divers can expect to encounter a variety of fish, including groupers, moray eels, and castagnoles (Mediterranean parrotfish). The area also supports a healthy population of invertebrates and smaller organisms, perfect for macro photography. Depending on the season, other species may also be present.

The best time to visit Les Sardinaux is during the warmer months, from May to October, when water temperatures are most pleasant and visibility is usually at its best. For freediving, the shallow plateau offers good opportunities for practicing breath-hold dives, while the deeper areas are suitable for experienced freedivers. Divers should check weather conditions and currents before entering the water and always dive within their limits.
