About this dive site

This dive site, Lydia 2, is an artificial reef located off the coast of Port-Barcarès, France. It's situated opposite the Lydia cruise liner, creating an interesting underwater landscape of boulders and structures. Navigation is relatively straightforward, following the contours of the artificial reef and exploring the crevices and overhangs where marine life congregates. The site is designed to mimic a natural habitat, providing a diverse ecosystem for various species.

The marine life at Lydia 2 is diverse and abundant. Divers can expect to encounter conger eels, moray eels, bream, and barracuda, among other species. The boulders and structures provide excellent shelter and hiding places for a wide variety of smaller fish and invertebrates, making it a good location for macro photography. Depending on the season, other species might also be present.

The best time to visit Lydia 2 is during the warmer months (spring, summer, and early autumn) when the water temperature is warmer and visibility is typically better. Stronger currents may be experienced at certain times of the year, so divers and freedivers should always check the weather and current conditions before entering the water. Adequate dive training and experience are recommended to handle potential currents and depths.
