This dive site, known as Sec Pâté, is a legendary destination in Guadeloupe, nestled centrally within the challenging Saintes channel. Revered as one of the world's most beautiful dives, access is solely dependent on the often capricious local weather. Divers explore a rich underwater landscape featuring a prominent drop-off.
The site boasts exceptional biodiversity, with vibrant flora and fauna. Enormous schools of fish are a common sight, while the steep drop-off is magnificently adorned with striking black gorgonians, contributing to a diverse and thriving ecosystem.
The optimal time to dive Sec Pâté is during periods of calm weather, which are essential for safe access to this open channel site. Given its maximum depth of 34 meters and the potential for strong, variable currents, this dive is best suited for advanced divers. Due to these challenging conditions, it is generally not recommended for freedivers.
