About this dive site

This dive site, Tombant Maeterlink, is located off the coast of France, a short boat ride from the port. Divers can anchor on a large plateau of madrepore coral between 12 and 25 meters, providing ample space to explore. The plateau gradually slopes down to a sandy bottom, punctuated by several smaller ridges, and culminates in a more substantial ridge extending further into the sea, adorned with magnificent gorgonians, reaching depths of up to 42 meters. However, the maximum recommended depth for diving this site is 30 meters.

The site boasts an impressive array of marine life. Expect encounters with dentex, barracuda, sars, crayfish, moray eels, conger eels, saupe, cuttlefish, squid, octopus, grouper, tuna, and amberjack. The diverse flora and fauna create a vibrant underwater scene, making it ideal for both macro and wide-angle photography.

The best time to visit is during the warmer months (spring and summer) when visibility is typically at its best and marine life is most active. For freedivers, the shallower sections of the plateau offer opportunities for longer dives, while experienced divers can explore the deeper sections and the gorgonian-covered ridge, taking the current into consideration. Always check the weather conditions and current strength before entering the water. Remember to maintain a safe distance from marine life and follow responsible diving practices.
