About this dive site

This dive site, La Grotte du Pari, is a remarkable lavatube cave located between Teahupoo and Tautira on the island of Tahiti in French Polynesia. It forms a massive underwater tunnel, stretching over a hundred meters long and spanning 20 to 30 meters wide. Divers can easily navigate through this expansive overhead environment, exploring its unique geological formations. The cave floor and walls are teeming with a multitude of sponges, sea cucumbers, and various species of shrimps. A highlight for many divers is the presence of bioluminescent fish, creating a magical glow in the deeper, darker sections of the tunnel. The best time to visit French Polynesia for diving is generally year-round, with calmer conditions between May and October. For La Grotte du Pari, night dives are particularly recommended to fully appreciate the bioluminescent marine life. Divers should be comfortable with cavern diving principles, while experienced freedivers may also find the shallow depth and wide tunnel suitable for exploration with proper preparation.
