This dive site, named Mamaru, which is Tahitian for white-tip sharks, is renowned for its gentle underwater topography leading to a distinctive sand spit. Divers navigate along this gentle slope, discovering a vibrant marine environment that culminates in the sand spit where various marine species congregate. The site's reputation is built around reliable encounters with its namesake sharks and other pelagic life. The highlight of Mamaru is its rich pelagic life. Whitetip sharks are frequently observed, particularly resting on the sand spit at depths of 20-25 meters. Lemon sharks are also present, adding to the thrill. The site is a haven for sea turtles, with both green turtles and hawksbill turtles making regular appearances, offering excellent opportunities for observation.
