About this dive site

Plage de Toaroto is a highly-regarded public beach on the west coast of Tahiti, known for its excellent snorkeling conditions, especially for beginners and families. The beach, located in Punaauia at PK 15.4, is a rarity on Tahiti due to its white sand and beautiful views of the sister island, Moorea.

The snorkeling is easily accessible right from the shore in a calm, protected lagoon. The clear, shallow water is home to a variety of marine life, including schools of small fish like convict tangs, butterflyfish, and parrotfish. While some areas of the coral may be in mixed condition, there are still healthy patches of branching and porous corals to explore.

For a more advanced experience, snorkelers can swim about 300 meters out to a designated coral garden. While this area offers an "enhanced underwater experience" and a chance to see more diverse marine life, it's important to be mindful of potential currents, especially near the pass.

Plage de Toaroto is not just a snorkeling spot; it's a well-equipped public beach with restrooms, showers, and picnic tables, making it an ideal location for a full day of relaxation and water activities.
