About this dive site

Plage Vaiava, also known as PK18, is a renowned spot on Tahiti's west coast, offering an exceptional snorkeling experience. The clear, calm waters of the protected lagoon make it an ideal location for all skill levels, from beginners to experienced snorkelers.

The reef here is not far from the shore, so you don't have to swim a great distance to explore the underwater world. The seabed is a mix of white sand patches and thriving coral bommies, creating a diverse and beautiful environment.

As you glide through the water, you'll be surrounded by a vibrant tapestry of marine life. Keep an eye out for large schools of reef fish, including convict tangs, colorful butterflyfish, and parrotfish. You might also spot graceful trumpetfish, quirky pufferfish, and if you're lucky, even a sea turtle, eagle ray or a small, harmless blacktip reef shark.

For a more curated experience, there's a dedicated "water trail" (Sentier Aquatique) marked by buoys, which guides you along a 400-meter path and provides information about the marine species you encounter. With its easy access, beautiful scenery, and abundant marine life, Vaiava Beach is a must-visit destination for anyone looking to snorkel in Tahiti.
