About this dive site

This dive site, Tauchbasis Löbejün, is located in a former mining area in Germany and is unfortunately no longer accessible due to blocked roads and posted entry signs by a local mining company. Historically, it served as a unique freshwater diving location, notable for its submerged relics from the mining era, including three prominent boilers surrounded by partitions. Divers previously explored this site by navigating around these fascinating artificial structures, offering a glimpse into the region's industrial past.

The lake was home to various freshwater species. Divers could encounter sturgeons, perches, and crabs among the submerged structures. While specific plant life is not detailed, typical freshwater flora would likely have been present, providing habitat for the mentioned animals.

As the dive site is currently inaccessible, there is no best time to visit or specific tips for divers or freedivers. However, if it were to become accessible again, the unique blend of industrial heritage and freshwater marine life would be its primary highlight, appealing to those interested in wreck-like environments and temperate freshwater ecosystems.
