This dive site, Wort des Lebens, located in Starnberger See, Assenhausen, Germany, offers a varied experience for divers of all skill levels. From the pebble beach entrance on the left side of the Seeburg, divers can navigate right to explore the Allmannshauser Steilwand (steep face) starting at approximately 18 meters depth. Alternatively, the left side presents a more gently sloping bottom leading to a charming rock garden at 3-5 meters, providing different underwater landscapes.
The site is home to various freshwater fish species. Eel rods, also known as burbot, are frequently found hiding within the crevices of the steep face. Divers can also encounter pike and perch, while night dives offer the unique opportunity to spot active eels.
Wort des Lebens is suitable throughout the diving season, with night dives particularly recommended for observing eels. Its diverse topography makes it appealing for both freedivers and scuba divers, with the shallow rock garden perfect for snorkelers and beginner freedivers, and the deeper wall appealing to more experienced divers looking for longer bottom times. Divers should be prepared for typical lake conditions, including cooler water temperatures.
