About this dive site

This dive site is the ‘CATHERAL’ cavern, a unique underwater cave system formed during Minoan times due to an earthquake and subsequent tsunami. The cave's history is visible in its impressive stalagmites and stalactites, remnants of a time when it was above ground. Access to the cavern is at 14 meters depth. Divers will experience temperature variations within the cave – approximately +/-1 degree Celsius – as they navigate fresh water pools. A remarkable feature is the sunlight beams that penetrate from the surface, creating a truly special underwater visual display. This location is recommended for certified divers and provides an exceptional diving experience.
