About this dive site
This dive site is located at Kelifos Island in the Toroneos Gulf, Greece. The underwater landscape is dramatic, with depths ranging from 5 to 150 meters, although the most commonly dived area is within the 26m maximum depth. Navigating underwater can be straightforward in calmer conditions but divers should be aware of potential currents, especially at greater depths. The island itself is uninhabited save for wild goats, adding a unique touch to the overall experience.
The marine life is diverse and abundant. You can expect to encounter various species of fish, including those common to the Mediterranean Sea. The presence of diverse bottom structures also supports a plethora of invertebrate life suitable for macro photography. While larger animals like sharks and rays are mentioned as potentially present, sightings are not guaranteed.
The best time to visit is during the summer months (June to September) when the water is warmest and visibility is usually at its best. Divers should check current conditions before each dive and be prepared for potential moderate currents. For freedivers, shallower areas offer excellent opportunities for exploring the colourful seabed. Remember to respect marine life and follow responsible diving practices.
