About this dive site

This dive site, Kalogria Reef, is located off the coast of Greece and offers an excellent diving experience for beginners and experienced divers alike. The reef is easily accessible from the shore, though a 200-meter swim is required to reach the main reef structure. The underwater terrain is relatively flat and easy to navigate, making it ideal for less experienced divers. There is no known historical significance or specific story associated with this reef, but its natural beauty makes it a sought-after destination.

The reef is teeming with typical Mediterranean marine life, including a variety of octopus species, colourful nudibranchs, and several species of sea bream. You can also expect to see various other fish species common to the Aegean Sea, along with diverse algae and invertebrate life that add to the vibrant underwater scene. The overall density and variety of marine life offer excellent opportunities for macro photography and observation.

The best time to visit Kalogria Reef is during the warmer months, from May to October, when water temperatures are most pleasant and visibility is typically at its best. For both divers and freedivers, calm conditions and good visibility are crucial. Remember to check weather forecasts and sea conditions before heading out, and always dive within your limits and with a buddy. The shallow depth makes it suitable for freediving, but careful planning and understanding of your own limits are essential for safety.
