About this dive site

This dive site presents a challenging wreck dive centered around the VERA, a cargo ship that ran aground in 1999. The vessel was carrying rust from Larymna Fthiotida and grounded near the Lefteris Reef between Skiathos and Pelion’s coast. The incident occurred at approximately 19:25 while the ship was in autopilot, resulting in water ingress and ultimately necessitating an abandonment. Rescue efforts were successful, with Captain and crew being brought to safety by the KOULA fishing vessel and subsequently transported to Platanias on Pelion. The reef itself is located in a channel known for currents, adding complexity to any dive. Due to the wreck's state and potential current conditions, this dive is considered advanced.
