About this dive site

This dive site, Manta Point, is located just off Bangaram Island in India. It is characterized by a gently sloping reef, adorned with impressive boulder coral formations and vibrant gorgonians. While the maximum depth is stated as 20 meters, there is reportedly a cleaning station in the sand at 25 meters, which requires careful depth management if aiming to observe it. The site is relatively straightforward to navigate, following the reef slope. As its nickname 'Ray City' suggests, Manta Point is renowned for its diverse ray population. Divers frequently encounter marble rays, eagle rays, and sting rays patrolling the reef. Lucky visitors might even be graced by the majestic presence of a manta ray, especially around the cleaning stations. The healthy coral structures also support a variety of reef fish and smaller marine life. The best time to visit Manta Point for optimal diving conditions and increased chances of spotting pelagic rays is generally between October and May, when the weather is calm and visibility is good. This site is suitable for all levels of divers due to its moderate depth and relatively easy navigation. Freedivers will also find the site appealing for its diverse marine life and manageable depths, offering excellent opportunities for breath-hold encounters with rays. Remember to maintain a respectful distance from the cleaning stations and marine life.
