About this dive site
This dive site, known as Secret Bay in Bali’s diving community, is located within a narrow bay off the Bali Strait. This unique location allows for strong currents – reaching 7 knots – which create an exceptional environment for marine life. A reef just outside the bay’s entrance acts as a channel, channeling these currents and establishing a natural ‘catch tank’ or nursery for numerous larval fish. The resulting conditions foster extremely healthy and colorful fish and invertebrates, all well-fed by this abundant food supply. Water temperatures typically range from 20 to 25°C, making Gilimanuk particularly appealing for macro photographers seeking vibrant underwater subjects.
