About this dive site

This dive site is the wreck of the Oued Yquem, a merchant ship that met its end during World War II in 1943 after being struck by a submarine. Located on a sandy seabed at a depth of 39 meters, this offers an exciting descent into the blue depths. The vessel was constructed primarily from iron and wood, featuring notable elements such as the propeller shaft and remnants of the boiler bricks – indicative of its steam propulsion system. The area is teeming with marine life; you’ll frequently encounter big groupers, murey eels, crabs, and lobsters inhabiting the wreck. Shoals of snappers are also commonly observed patrolling the site. This dive presents a rewarding experience for those interested in exploring historical shipwrecks and observing diverse aquatic ecosystems.
