About this dive site

This dive site, located along the coast and accessible to all divers, features striking Pinnacoli – jagged rock formations rising from volcanic bedrock. These Pinnacoli provide a habitat for diverse marine life, including nudibranchs, sea urchins (Echinoidea), and schools of dogfish (Diplodus) and goby (Guarracino) that are pursued by groupers (Seriola Dumerili). The seabed between the Pinnacoli holds a rare treasure: the Pinna Nobilis, also known as the Nacchera, Cozza Penna or Stura – the largest bivalve in the Mediterranean. This species, reaching up to one meter in length and protected from collection, is occasionally home to small shrimp (Pontonia Pinnophylax). Divers can descend into a bay beneath the access point, following a steep volcanic wall until they reach depths of 18 meters where larger rock formations emerge from the seabed, mirroring the Pinnacoli above. Visibility is good, allowing for ample observation of the underwater landscape and its inhabitants.
