About this dive site
This dive site, named "Cross Line," is a tranquil and relaxing point characterized by a beautiful coral reef and sandy bottom. Its unique name comes from fishing ropes that sank during a typhoon and now cross each other on the seafloor. Divers can navigate along these ropes, which serve as excellent guides and are magnets for diverse marine life.
The site is especially renowned for its abundant macro life, with many small organisms observable along the ropes. Highlights include several colonies of Tomato Anemonefish found in the sandy areas, and Green Sea Turtles, often accompanied by remoras. Other species commonly encountered include Pipefish, Razorfish, Ornate Ghost Pipefish, Snowflake Moray, various Nudibranchs, Black Boxfish, Lionfish, Mandarinfish, White-spotted Rockcod, Yasha Goby, Flagtail Shrimpgoby, Frogfish, and Seahorses.
Cross Line is an ideal spot for macro photography enthusiasts and divers of all levels due to its calm conditions and rich biodiversity. While specific best times are not mentioned, Okinawa's diving season generally offers good conditions year-round, with summer months providing warmer water. Both scuba divers and freedivers will appreciate the shallow average depth and the opportunity to observe a wide range of captivating marine creatures.
