About this dive site
This dive site, MTK Beach, is situated in Kuki, Japan, centrally located on the eastern side of the Kii Peninsula. It offers excellent accessibility from both the Kansai and Chubu regions. Nestled within the long and narrow, rias-type Guki Bay, the dive points are scattered around the cove's entrance, ensuring the sea is rarely rough and providing very comfortable diving conditions.
The underwater environment boasts a rich diversity of marine life. Hard corals are abundant, including varieties such as green reef reefers and blue and white corals, forming vibrant coral reefs. The sandy seabed is particularly rich in numerous goby species, and various anemones host an array of shrimp. Divers also have a high probability of encountering larger marine creatures, including large yellowtail, grouper, korodai, sharks, stingrays, and sea turtles.
MTK Beach's calm and shallow conditions make it an excellent year-round destination for all types of divers. It is highly suitable for beginners, freedivers, and snorkelers due to its protected waters and moderate depths. Divers can enjoy both wide-angle opportunities for impressive big fish encounters and excellent macro photography thanks to the diverse small critters and corals.
