About this dive site
This dive site, Nozaki, is located on the west side of Tokashiki Island, the largest island within the stunning Kerama Islands of Japan. It is known for its vibrant underwater scenery, with beautiful coral formations dominating both the shallow and deeper sections. The site offers relatively easy navigation, making it a popular choice among local dive operators and suitable for varying skill levels.
Divers can expect to encounter a rich variety of marine life, including frequent sightings of Green Sea Turtles. The healthy coral reefs are home to numerous fish species such as Anthias, Damselfish, Glassfish, Garden Eels, and various Clownfish including Clark's, Pink Skunk, and Tomato Clownfish. Other notable inhabitants include Leaf Scorpionfish, Fusiliers, Trumpetfish, Lionfish, Banded Sea Kraits, Butterflyfish, and occasionally White-tip Reef Sharks.
Nozaki is ideal for both beginners and intermediate divers, with its accessible depths and diverse marine ecosystem. While there is no specific 'best time' mentioned beyond general diving conditions in the Kerama Islands, the site offers good conditions for observing marine life. However, divers should be aware that currents can become noticeable during spring and mid-tides, requiring attention to conditions. Its shallow beautiful corals also make it suitable for snorkelers and freedivers.
