About this dive site
This dive site, Slope Beach, also known as Youdive Mae Beach, is a highly accessible shore entry located in a sheltered bay in Oi, Fukui, Japan. Its close proximity to the dive shop (10 seconds away) and easy beach access make it exceptionally convenient and beginner-friendly. Being sheltered, it offers calm conditions almost year-round, making it a prime location for dive training and introducing new divers to the underwater world.
The site is renowned for its abundant macro life, including various species of seahorses, a rich diversity of nudibranchs, and coral turtles. In early summer, the area becomes even more vibrant with schools of migratory fish, notably yellowtail, adding a dynamic element to the underwater scene.
The best time to visit for observing migratory fish schools, especially yellowtail, is early summer. For macro enthusiasts, the site offers excellent opportunities year-round due to the consistent presence of small creatures. Its shallow depths and mild currents also make it ideal for freedivers seeking to explore without strong challenges.
