About this dive site
This dive site, Tetra Mae, is situated at the entrance of the Tsuya fishing port, adjacent to the impressive tetrapods of the Ichimonji breakwater. Underwater, divers will find a beautiful sandy bottom complemented by spectacular huge tetrapods which have been purposefully converted into artificial fish reefs, fostering a rich ecosystem. The site is relatively shallow, with an average depth of 7 meters, making navigation straightforward and enjoyable.
Tetra Mae boasts abundant marine life, including a large colony of over 50 Hamanomis and a wide variety of fish such as snappers, spiny lobsters, various species of clownfish, bannerfish, and yellowtail snappers. Gobies can be observed in the sandy areas, and a vibrant forest of soft corals covers the shallow anchoring area. On rare occasions, divers might even spot scalloped hammerheads.
This site is ideal for experience diving, training, and snorkeling due to its shallow depths and calm conditions. it is also suitable for beginner freediving lessons, provided there is no strong wind from the west affecting surface conditions. The highlight for many is the large colony of Hamanomi found at around 5 meters depth, offering excellent opportunities for observation and photography.
