This dive site features the impressive Tristar commercial aircraft, purposefully sunk to create an artificial reef and a unique underwater attraction. Divers can explore the exterior of the plane at various depths, with an average depth of approximately 11 meters and a maximum of 23 meters. For those suitably qualified, penetration into the aircraft's interior is possible, offering an exciting swim-through experience through its cabins and cockpit.
Over time, the Tristar has blossomed into a thriving artificial reef, attracting a diverse range of marine life. Visitors can expect to encounter numerous Red Sea reef fish such as damselfish, angelfish, lionfish, and groupers. Hard and soft corals are colonizing the aircraft's structure, providing shelter and food for smaller critters like nudibranchs and shrimps, making it an excellent spot for macro photography.
Aqaba offers excellent diving conditions year-round, with the best visibility typically from spring to autumn. This site is suitable for all levels, with beginners enjoying the shallower exterior and advanced divers seeking the challenge of penetration. Freedivers will also find the varied depths appealing. It is recommended to dive with an experienced local guide, especially if planning interior exploration.
