About this dive site

This dive site, located at Sibuan in Malaysia, is renowned as one of the best macro diving locations in the country. The area offers a gentle slope from sand to a reef extending over 30 meters deep. Left Shoulder is particularly famous for its abundance of macro life. Divers frequently encounter a remarkable variety of frogfish species – painted, clown, and giant – including juvenile specimens smaller than fingernails! You'll also find porcelain crab, squat shrimp, partner shrimp, bubble coral shrimp, whip coral shrimp, and peacock mantis shrimp. The site is celebrated for its diverse nudibranch population, with new species regularly discovered by the local dive guides. Caution should be exercised as snake eels can be seen protruding from the seabed, and devil fish inhabit the sand, often leaving only their eyeballs visible. When moving toward the southern point of the island, currents increase, providing opportunities to observe pharaoh cuttlefish alongside green and hawksbill turtles. This dive is known for its ability to transform divers who initially prefer larger marine life into enthusiastic macro enthusiasts.
