This dive site, known as the Six Sisters (and sometimes the Magnificent 7, though the 7th boat was never located), is an artificial reef formed by six impounded fisherman boats intentionally sunk. These wrecks lie clustered on the seabed at around 23 meters depth, serving as a haven for marine life and providing interesting structures for exploration. Divers can navigate around and over the individual wrecks, which offer various nooks and crannies to discover.
The Six Sisters is teeming with a diverse array of marine animals. Expect to encounter numerous fish species such as pufferfish, groupers, barracudas, and snappers, which have made these wrecks their home. For keen observers, there's also the chance to spot nurse sharks and Jenkins rays often found hiding amongst or under the sunken boats, adding to the site's rich biodiversity.
The best time to visit this dive site would generally align with the dry season in Malaysia's east coast (typically March to October) for optimal weather and visibility. This site offers excellent opportunities for underwater photography, both wide-angle shots of the wrecks and macro shots of the smaller inhabitants. For freedivers, the average depth of 11 meters with a maximum of 22 meters makes it an achievable and rewarding dive, provided they have sufficient experience with depth and wreck environments.
